Run by Chuck, worked by Chuck and Gabe

One crew, from the demo to the last bead of caulk

G&C is a residential specialty contractor, which in practice means the same two people who quote your job are the ones who show up and do it. Here is the work we take on most often.

Bathroom remodels

Full bathrooms taken from demo to the last piece of trim. Tub and shower conversions, vanities, tile surrounds, waterproofing and the plumbing fixtures to match.

Walk-in and accessible showers

Low threshold and curbless walk-in showers built for people who want to stop climbing over a tub. Grab bars, benches, hand showers and a pan that drains the way it should.

Kitchen remodels

Cabinets, countertops and backsplash tile fitted to the room you have. Hickory shaker, granite, travertine subway, or whatever suits the house.

Tile and stone

Large format porcelain, slate, travertine, mosaic banding and hex pan tile. Shower walls, tub surrounds, floors and river rock fireplace fronts.

Flooring

Rigid vinyl plank and tile, laid flat and square, with custom transitions worked out where one material meets another instead of hidden under a strip.

Decks and exteriors

Cedar decks, wide entry steps, covered porches and timber posts set on stone bases. Built to stand up to an Eastern Oregon winter.

Finished walk-in shower with marble look tile, grab bar, corner shelves and a low threshold

A job worth talking about

A walk-in shower in a 115 year old house that was anything but square

Plenty of contractors quote an easy bathroom and walk away from a hard one. This one was hard. The walls were out of plumb, nothing measured the same twice, and the owners wanted the tub gone and a walk-in shower in its place. Chuck went out with his wife to look at it, then he and Gabe cut, fit and tiled the whole thing to the room instead of forcing the room to match the parts.

Tub out, shower in, new floor, and a few extras along the way. It took a week.

“Alot of custom stuff to fit our crooked bathroom. Felt like family came over to give us a new bathroom at a great price !”

What people in La Grande say

Started a Bathroom project/estimate with a visit from Chuck and his wife and over the course of the next week a very nice tub/shower/floor (and more).. conversion to an adorable walk-in in our 115 year old (kinda crooked) old house. Charles and Gabe made it happen for us. Alot of custom stuff to fit our crooked bathroom. Felt like family came over to give us a new bathroom at a great price ! Call them 👍

Gabe & Chuck did an outstanding job on our new rigid vinyl flooring. They went above & beyond to do a perfect job. They were creative in the transition areas to tile making a beautiful end result. I guarantee if you hire them you will be happy with your choice!

Working with these guys was a relief! They remodeled a bathroom for us and build a front deck. Both jobs were done with excellent communication, timeliness, on budget and better than expected quality. I will use them again and highly recommend!

I did not pay for their services, but I called this place just to asked them questions. The man I spoke to was so helpful and went above and beyond to help me out, even though he was not getting anything out of it. Than you so much!

A family business, not a call center

G&C Specialty Contractors was registered in La Grande in 2019 by Charles Brence, who everyone calls Chuck. He is the licensed contractor on the job, and Gabe works alongside him. Customers tend to name them both when they write a review, which tells you who is actually on site.

The work is residential remodeling across Union County. Bathrooms and walk-in showers most of all, plus kitchens, tile, flooring and decks. One person quotes it, the same person builds it, and the estimate is a conversation in your house rather than a form you fill out.
